Sales, Car Boot

S

With 40 years of bric-a-brac around the house, many pensioners eventually consider car boot sales as a way to declutter and make a little money into the bargain.

There are, of course, plenty of better ways to spend a Sunday morning than sitting in a field having complete strangers dismiss your taste in artefacts and then seeing the same smug hagglers selling them on TV antique programmes for twenty times what they paid you.

If you’ve relied on the previous day’s forecast of unbroken sunshine, you’ll probably have to survive four hours of torrential rain which will turn the field into a quagmire from which your car will have to be dragged by tractor, which will cost more than you made during the sale.
