As your eye-hand co-ordination deteriorates with age, parking becomes much more of a pleasure.

With a little practice, you should be able to engineer a glancing blow on at least three other vehicles in a reasonably full car park, and this can lead to many stimulating conversations and even invigorating new friendships with nurses.

Supermarket car parks are excellent places for collision collection, and it should be possible to add shopping trolleys, wheelchairs, recycling containers and wagtails to your list of conquests.

Parking in the road should always include an element of pavement mounting, bumper grazing and wing mirror bending, while manoeuvring into a friend or relative’s driveway can afford a reasonable opportunity to flatten walls, shrubs and cats.
