Oligarch is a recently coined term describing Russian businessmen who have amassed enormous fortunes by having their rivals confined to mental institutions or poisoned with radio-active tea.
Probably the best known are Roman Bramallainovic, the owner of Sheffield United football club, Rupert Murdovski, who owns all of Mick Jagger’s former wives and Mikhail Govachov, who lives in the 1950s and is the manager and occasional member of the Russian punk band, Pussy Riot.
Oligarchs who have made their money through agriculture are generally known as cauliegarchs.
